Quick weekend trips are always very refreshing but specially more during this never ending pandemic times. One such trip was to Ithaca, perched on the south shores of Lake Cayuga in upstate New York. In late November I didn’t know what to expect, except gloomy cold days but I was ready to explore. On a friends recommendation we had reservations to a hotel and spa. So we headed there just to relax for a couple days and away from the “work from home environment”.
We saw beautiful snow dusted mountains on our way(see post: Snow Spray on Trees). We also experienced the first snow fall this season!
Ithaca does have a youthful vibe with universities and colleges. In summer this place and it’s surroundings can no doubt be an exciting destination to explore the trails in the state park and the stunning must-see waterfalls. But the highlight of our trip turned out to be La Tourelle, hotel, bistro and spa (http://www.latourelle.com). Check out their website to learn more about this amazingly quiet and relaxing place that has been providing exceptional hospitality in the Finger Lakes region for many many years now.
The room was very exquisite with an antique touch. A shelf full of books to enjoy. We were also told that few years ago Dalai Lama, visited this place and enjoyed this unique room.
Next morning, I woke up to little flurries falling from the sky. I was awestruck at the view I saw out of the window and the little balcony. A little bit of snow can work wonders on the beauty of nature. The winter views of the snow covered valley and woods, lawns, gazebos and pond was so soothing to the eyes.
One would ponder that it’s just another cold snowy morning but in spite of the cold I felt an unusual warmth as well as calm and peace within. To me the fall morning ambience seemed to be blessed by His holiness , the Dalai Lama. As if reminding me of our purpose in life and what I read at the lobby the night before (see photo below). I like to capture these weird but awakening moments in my journey and hope that it motivates you all.
